ReplyDeleteHi Adam and Calder. Welcome on board. The Beatles song is actually about friendship, even though it mentions love. The Beatles knew how to write awesome songs... They are the highest selling recording artists of the 20th Century. I think you all sing it really well. It'll be fun. And also my friend Mike who is an UNBELIEVABLE guitarist is going to cone and play with us. He knows the proper guitar part for the Green Day song too. He also offered to do some rehearsals with a small guitar group. Anyone interested? Peta I'll check out that Jonas Brothers song. They do write sone catchy music. A huge THANK YOU FROM ALL THE GRADES 5 and 6 for lending me the Thriller DVD. Cone and get it from me on Tuesday.

Hi Vicky, I'll have 15 by Taylor Swift ready to go by next week, I promise. Yes Connie we can sing Time of Your Life. We are going to sing that at graduation so we need to practise it. You all need to LEARN the words off by heart (it's pretty easy, it's a short song). Alex, I'll have to have a look into Smells Like Teen Spirit, but hopefully we can sing that too. There are heaps of easy songs by Nirvana to play on guitar. Do you know any other ones? I will take names for the guitar group at graduation a little later in the term. My friend Mike can't come to help you out for a little while yet. Calder - do you have Boom Boom Pow on CD? Does ANYONE have the new Black Eyed Peas album E.N.D.? Can I please borrow it if someone has it? That would be awesome. We could sing Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling.

ReplyDeleteHi Ally, well if we can't do Boom Boom Pow we could definitely do some other tracks from the CD. Meet Me Halfway is a great song, and I Gotta Feeling is also really great. I would love you to bring the CD in, please. The Taylor Swift one would be good too. I am going to be pretty flat out with getting the graduation stuff happening, so any help in lending me CDs is much appreciated).
ReplyDeleteAngie: Don't panic. Graduation things will all come together nicely. Thriller dance rehearsals begin this Thursday in the after school care room. We will work this week on getting what we have so far up to a high standard. We'll also work on getting some moves down for the chorus. In the weeks between now and graduation, we will wrap up the dance and it will be great.
Peta: I will organise with Mr Foster and Mr Warwick to combine all grade fives, and then all grade sixes for some music lessons. That way the grade fives can focus on learning new songs/other stuff, while the grade sixes can focus on graduation. It will be exciting to get all the grade sixes together, but very important that we focus on what we need to get done.
Anna: not sure exactly what songs we'll do this week in music, but I'll have a look at some of the suggestions on here and see if I can get the chords to something you guys want to sing.
John: thanks for your posts, unfortunately it is a little too late to add another song to sing at graduation, but let's get that Michael Jackson song in the classroom so we can sing it. Do you have a copy on CD? Who might have it? I'd love to do it.
Graduation Performance; I have organised to sing a song for you at your graduation, and two other singers (from the Australian Chamber Choir) are going to come in to sing it with me. I hope you will like it.
Thanks everyone for all your posts, and thank you for the beautiful posters you have all made. I can't wait to put them up in the new music room. They will look ace once they're up!
To the students who wanted to play guitar at graduation, we'll get that going in the next couple of weeks. I need to speak to my friend Mike to see when we can get him in. He is very busy. But for now, we'll focus on the singing (and dancing for those people doing it) and the rest will all happen. I spoke to Mrs H and she said we are well ahead of schedule for graduation stuff so don't stress. We've still got 6 weeks!
I hope you all had a nice Cup Day off. I went to the races on Saturday - SO MUCH FUN! I'll tell you all about it next lesson.

Hi Maddy, we are not going to sing the Matchbox 20 song for graduation. Different people have different interpretations of the song. It is too late to add any songs to graduation. We are singing the following: "With a Little Help From My Friends" and "Time of Your Life". That is enough. We will also have to work out some kind of movement for one of the songs, like they did last year. See you tomorrow (Friday) for music and we'll see if we can find Brick in the Wall chords to sing just for fun anyway. Thanks for your suggestion!
